Brain emulation so humans can flourish in a world with superintelligence
We have already scanned 47% of all neural tissue in the world
1.81mm³ of mouse brain at synapse resolution — more than any other single group on the planet. Our custom-built microscope array captures at 16nm voxels, 100x lower cost than existing solutions. The rate: one cubic millimeter per month, and accelerating.
A fruit fly lived a real life. We brought its brain back — digitally.
139,255 neurons. 50 million connections. Preserved, scanned, reconstructed, and emulated. In a landmark 2024 Nature paper, the model matched the real fly’s neural responses with 91% accuracy; using nothing but connectivity and neurotransmitter identity.
Now living in a simulation, it responds to light, navigates, grooms, walks, and feeds. No hand-coded behaviors. No machine learning. Just structure producing function.
Organism in, digital brain out
Preserve & Section
Brain preserved, expanded, and sliced into thousands of imaging-ready sections.
Scan & Trace
Massively parallel microscope array images every slice. AI segments and traces the full connectome.
Emulate
Connectome populated with learned neuron models. A complete mind running on compute at real-time speed.
The only team capable and willing
Recruiting from SpaceX, Neuralink, and Allen Institute. An engineering sprint mentality — not a decades-long research program.
World-leading experts
Neurobiology, artificial intelligence, cognitive science, and the philosophy of mind.
